Invalid’s Basic Pension - BIP
Amount payable as from Jan 2026 – Rs 15555.
Beneficiaries aged below 18 are eligible to a additional monthly Allowance of Rs 3000 (effective as from July 2024).
BIP is payable to a Mauritian citizen under pension age for those born on or after September 1965 (see Tenth Schedule of the NP Act – Phasing in of pension age to qualify for Basic Retirement Pension)
- under the retirement age;
- certified by a Medical Board or a Medical Officer to be incapacitated to a degree of at least 60 percent and for a period of at least 12 months; and
- in the case of a non-citizen, he must have resided in Mauritius for at least five years in aggregate in the ten years immediately before the claim, one of those five years being immediately before the claim.
- A beneficiary aged below 18 is eligible to a additional monthly Allowance of Rs 3000 (effective as from July 2024)
- is not an inmate in a subsidized Charitable Institution.
- Birth Certificate.
- Marriage Certificate.
- National Identity Cards:
• Applicant
• Proxy (where applicable) - Medical Certificate (s) specifying the disability(ies).
- Bank Name and Bank Account Number.
In the case of a joint account, the National Identity Card(s) of Joint account holder(s) should be produced. - Passports (both Mauritian and foreign).
- Passport-sized photo for bus pass.
Application may be registered at the Social Security Office nearest to the applicant’s locality.
