Residential Care Homes Board
The Residential Care Homes Board has been set up under section 4 of the Residential Care Homes Act 2003 to regulate the operations of Charitable Institutions and Private Residential Care Homes. It is a mandatory requirement for the aforesaid Institutions to ensure compliance with the Residential Care Homes Act 2003 and the Residential Care Homes Regulations 2005.
Objectives of the Board
(i) Exercises general supervision and control over residential care homes
(ii) Monitors compliance by licensees with the conditions of their licences
(iii) Exercises control over inspectors in the discharge of their functions under the Act
(iv) Establishes codes of practice for residential care homes and monitors compliance with the codes
Responsibilities
(i) Processes applications for residential care home licences;
(ii) Effects inspection at residential care homes;
(iii) Provides information to prospective applicants as well as Officers in charge of residential care homes; and
(iv) Attends to complaints regarding residential care homes
