Industrial Injury Benefit (IIB)

Payable to an employee or self-employed who suffers a personal injury caused by an industrial accident or suffers a prescribed disease (being a disease due to the nature of his employment) resulting in temporary total incapacity for work.

Payable in the case of:

  1. an employee – as from the 15th day of temporary total incapacity for work (Full compensation to be paid by the employer for first two weeks of temporary total incapacity at the same rate that the employee was being remunerated at the time the industry injury occurred).
  2. a self-employed – as from the first day of incapacity provided the period of incapacity exceeds 2 weeks as certified by a government Medical Officer.

The IIB payable shall be equal to 100% of the monthly earnings of the employee or net income derived by a self-employed, not exceeding the amount specified in Part II of the First schedule to the SCSB Act 2021.

  1. Birth Certificate.
  2. National Identity Card.
  3. Medical Certificates/Evidence; and
  4. Bank Name and Bank Account Number.In the case of a joint account, the National Identity Card(s) of Joint account holder(s) should be produced.

Application may be registered at the Social Security Office nearest to the applicant’s locality.
