GIS – 08 August 2024: The Life Enhancement Education Programme (LEEP) aiming to assist beneficiaries under the Social Register of Mauritius with life skills, was launched, yesterday, by the Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, at the Centre de L’Unité in Camp Levieux.
The LEEP, an initiative of the Ministry in collaboration with the National Empowerment Foundation, spans over 14 weeks and aims to sensitise participants on pertinent issues such as drug and substance abuse, moral values, family budgeting, and importance of good communication in a household.
Addressing the participants, Minister Jeewa-Daureeawoo indicated that the programme is organised every year to raise awareness on promoting family values as well as upholding harmony and peace in the neighbourhood. She observed that women being the pillar of the family, contribute positively to their household.
Highlighting the benefits of the programme, she underlined that beneficiaries will be equipped with prerequisite values and principles to succeed in their personal lives and guide them in their careers.
The Minister also encouraged participants, through the practice of a physical activity, to maintain a healthy lifestyle and decrease their risks of non-communicable diseases.
