BIP is payable to a Mauritian citizen under pension age for those born on or after September 1965 (see Tenth Schedule of the NP Act – Phasing in of pension age to qualify for Basic Retirement Pension)\u00a0<\/p>

  1. under the retirement age;<\/li>
  2. certified by a Medical Board or a Medical Officer to be incapacitated to a degree of at least 60 percent and for a period of at least 12 months; and<\/li>
  3. in the case of a non-citizen, he must have resided in Mauritius for at least five years in aggregate in the ten years immediately before the claim, one of those five years being immediately before the claim.<\/li>
  4. A beneficiary aged below 18 is eligible to a additional monthly Allowance of Rs 3000 (effective as from July 2024)<\/li>
  5. is not an inmate in a subsidized Charitable Institution.<\/li><\/ol><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
